Ingredients for Machine Products

 Introduction:

This project was conceived and begun at a point in time when there were not that many Machines in Family Farm and few of them produced more than a couple of different types of products.  Now, in the Spring of 2014, there are an extraordinary array of Machines and the number of different products some of them can produce is dizzying.  This therefore no longer is a comprehensive guide but I will do my best to add all new information until it represents something that approaches a truly comprehensive list of products that can be made in Family Farm.

Machine Products

As I like to be able to refer to information about Recipes in any game that includes a Cooking or Crafting option, I thought it might be useful to add a Page to this Guide that gives all the Items that can be used in any partiular Machine and the Products the Machines can create.

When I first began to work on this page, it was not possible to obtain information about the values of the Products made in any Machine unless one actually MADE the product in question.  Now, when you go to the option that allows you to select the type of product to be made, you can use your mouse to hover over any ingredient to see the actual name of the Product that is produced as well as the item used to produce it and the value of the Product.

Furthermore, when I first began to play Family Farm over a year ago, one could set a Machine on automation to make products automatically without any need to add ingredients manually.  Now, there is a Machine House that, like the Animal House, has revolutionised the game.  When a Machine is placed in the Machine House, one can access its menu to choose a specific number of products to be made.  Once that number has been reached, the Machine will stop its production and you will be able to collect the products at your leisure.  This is far different from the situation in the past where, once a Machine was set on automation, it would continue to produce until the Farmer stopped it manually or it ran out of one or more of the ingredients needed.  When one needs 100 Tiramisu and the Cake Machine continues to produce Tiramisu mindlessly until all Wheat Flour, Eggs and/or Chocolate stores have been exhausted, it can be detrimental to other Quests.  High Level Farmers may have 200 of every ingredient stashed in their Barns but at lower levels, it can be difficult to amass the number of ingredients needed to complete a step in a Quest, let alone have sufficient to waste on mindless production beyond the required amount.

Note that now, in 2014, there often are more than one Machine of any type.  Usually when this is the case, however, they ALL are capable of producing the same products.  The difference between Machines of the same type can be primarily cosmetic, as in the case of the Easter Weaver as opposed to the ordinary Weaver, or it can be a matter of speed in production as is the case with respect to the ordinary Cheese Master and the Fast Cheese Master.

Special Machines often are given as Rewards for the completion of Quests or Missions.  Sometimes, a Reward in the form of a special Machine is given for logging into the game and monthly Calendar every day without fail.  Some of the special Machines are linked to a specific Festival or Holiday, such as Christmas or Easter.  Some of them are exotic Machines that seldom will be used unless the Farmer specifically desires to do so.  You will not find the exotic Machines or their products usually in the ordinary Quests or Missions in Family Farm.  If, therefore, you miss the opportunity to obtain one, you still should be able to perform all Missions or Quests.  Among the exotic Machines of this sort are the Golden Snakeskin Fashion Machine and the Pancake Machine.  The exotic Machines may be included in Farm Club Collections, however, so it always is a good idea to obtain all possible Machines if you can.

If you miss the opportunity to obtain a Machine that is a Reward for Calendar log-in or a time-restricted Quest, you may be able to buy it at some point in a special Sale.  Special time-limited sales will appear infrequently in the centre of the top of the screen.  They may include special Animals, Habitats or Machines that are not available in the Market.

Initial Machine Production

When you first begin to play Family Farm, you will be introduced to some of the simple Machine in the course of completing little Quests.  Among these are the Cheese Maker, the Juice Machine, the Wine Maker and the Salami Maker.

Cheese Makers
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
There are three different Cheese Makers, the ordinary Cheese Maker, the Cheese Master and the Fast Cheese Maker.  The ordinary Cheese Maker is introduced to the Farmer almost at the very start of the game.  It is quite adequate for most Cheese-making needs but in fact, the Fast Cheese Maker must be purchased if the Farmer wishes to make a couple of the more exotic Cheeses.  Oddly enough, the Cheese Master is the one that, although it makes the same Cheeses as the ordinary Cheese Maker, produces them at a faster rate.  The Cheese Master can be purchased with Coins.  The Fast Cheese Maker unfortunately must be purchased using RC.    The ordinary Cheese Maker, the Cheese Master and the Fast Cheese Maker are Single Ingredient Machines.

  Uses Grape

White Grape Wine: 86 Coins
  Uses White Grapes

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Fruit Wine Machine:

The Fruit Wine Machine is one of the newer Machines and uses two Ingredients.  The first of these always is required and is Nectar.  Nectar is a fairly new Item in Family Farm and is created by Butterflies when they pollinate certain Trees.  As with Bees and their pollination, the Tree that has been pollinated will change colour afterwards until it is harvested.  It is the second Ingredient that determines the type of Fruit Wine that is made:

Dutch Mill, Brick Mill and Donkey Mill
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

xxxxxxxxx
Dutch Mill
xxxxxxxxx

The Dutch Mill will be on your Farm when you first begin to play.  It is the 'default' Mill that grinds the three basic types of Flour: Wheat, Rye and Oat.  If you wish to grind Cornmeal or Rice Flour, you will need to purchase  the Donkey Mill.

Brick Mill
xxxxxxxxx

Since I first created this page, the Brick Mill no longer is available in the Marketplace.  It still can be used by those players who have one, but for players who did not purchase it previously, the only option for creating exotic types of flour now is the Donkey Mill.

The Brick Mill is much faster than the Dutch Mill and it grinds all types of Flour: Wheat, Rye, Oat, Cornmeal, Rice Flour, Almond Flour and Matcha Powder.   Unfortunately, although the price for the incomplete Mill is 9000 Coins and there are four materials that can be obtained from neighbours, there are three more than have to be purchased with premium cash in the form of RC.  The list of materials is deceptive as there are TWO pages.  The first contains the materials that can be requested.  It is the SECOND page of Materials that are those that must be purchased.  The minimum price for the Brick Mill in premium cash is 24 RC, if you obtain all other materials from Neighbours.

Cornmeal: 145 Coins
Rice Flour: 150 Coins

This past year, two new types of flour were added to the list:

Almond Flour: 52 Coins
Matcha Powder: 24 Coins

Almond Flour uses Almonds harvested from Almond Trees.  Matcha Powder is made from Tea Leaves.  Of the two, it is the Almond Flour that is the most useful as it is a required ingredient in one of the new Machines: the Marzipan Machine, as well as being used in items created in the Dessert Shop and Beauty Shop.

Donkey Mill

Fortunately, the Donkey Mill grinds the same types of Flour as the Brick Mill.  Unfortunately, I believe that RC is required for one or more material used to complete it, although I am not certain as I have mine and cannot access the Materials List now.

Cornmeal: 145 Coins
Rice Flour: 150 Coins
Almond Flour: 52 Coins
Matcha Powder: 24 Coins

Ornament Maker

The Ornament Maker is a delightful machine with a revolving Snow Globe at the top.  It requires two ingredients, one of which is the Tinsel Crop, a Crop that can be unlocked 'forever' for the price of 1 RC.  In my view, it is well worth the expenditure, especially as one of the Christmas Quests for 2013 requires the use of the Ornament Machine.

It is the second Ingredient that determines the type of Ornament that is produced:

Another of the fairly sophisticated new Machines that require ingredients made in other machines or crafting buildings.  The Mooncake Machine is a three-ingredient Machine.  The first two of these always are Cornmeal and Honey.  This type of Flour cannot be made in the Dutch Mill but has to be produced in a Brick Mill (no longer sold but still active if you have one) or a Donkey Mill.  The third ingredient determines the type of Mooncake produced.

Marshmallow Machine
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Another sophisticated Machine,  the Marshmallow Machine is a Reward for a 2014 Quest that involved the Beauty Shop.  One had to place and then complete a Flower Stand, then collect Vases for it.  A total of 24 Vases, 8 from each of three Seasons, were required to obtain this Reward.  The Marshmallow Machine is a three-ingredient Machine.  The two required Ingredients are Nectar and Maple Syrup.   It is the third ingredient that determines the type of Marshmallow made.   If a Player, like me, has multiple Butterfly Houses, he/she always will have a plethora of Nectar on hand, making the Marshmallow Machine useful.  As you can see by studying the following list of Marshmallows, however, the third ingredient in EVERY case is an Item that is produced in another Machine.

Dehydrator Machines

There are two Dehydrator Machines.  I assume they process the same list of ingredients but will confirm this.  The first is the ordinary Dehydrator Machine that is purchased unfinished and then built.  The second is a Reward for achieving Level 60.  Dehydrators produced Dried Meats and Fruits.  The products can be sold or in some cases, used as ingredients to produce other special items, such as Cookies, Breads or Yoghurt.
